Job Profile Summary Analyzes contract documents, plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to determine costs associated with precast concrete scope.


Summary of Primary Functions: Analyzes contract documents, plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to determine costs associated with precast concrete scope by performing essential duties as listed below. A high degree of interest in modeling and technology is required.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: All employees are required to follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products.

Reviews contract documents to determine precast scope of work. Types of projects would normally include parking garages, warehouses, schools, jails, prisons or - other facilities requiring innovative concrete products.


• Performs accurate takeoff of precast components.

• Utilizes Excel spreadsheets to determine plant, freight, and field operations costs associated with the project.

Prepares estimates to be used by management, sales, planning, engineering, and field operations in scheduling work, preparing bids; contracting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.

• Creates, writes, modifies Estimating program and reports utilizing Excel on an on-going basis.

Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.

• Maintains the post-mortem analysis of completed projects report on an on-going basis.

• Writes project proposals and maintains Master proposals in Microsoft Word on an on-going basis.

• Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost date of effect cost reductions. Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues as requested by Sales personnel.

• Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to cost estimates.

• Visualizes 3-D precast concept from 2-D contract drawings.

• Performs cost analysis of precast framing systems, value engineering options, and other solutions as required.

• Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost date of effect cost reductions.

• Maintains weekly plant report estimated vs actual costs.

•Understands engineering concepts in regard to general structural concepts, connections, component limitations, and

constructability.

•Organizes and manages a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to all

historical data.

• Analyzes completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.

• Identifies costs trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.

• Maintains the quarterly update of material costs.

• Maintains the database of estimated projects.

• Supervises Estimators.

Job Specifications or Qualifications:

Education: An Associates Degree is preferred.

Experience: 7 to 10 (+)years prior precast experience is preferred. Similar experience may be considered.

Supervisory Experience: 2 - 4 (+) years is required.

This role can be on-site, hybrid or remote or any combination of the three.
