We are seeking a talented Senior Battery Scientist to lead and support the development of innovative energy storage solutions. As a key member of our dynamic team, you will leverage your expertise to drive the creation of new molecules, formulations, intellectual property, products, processes, and testing capabilities.


In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Lead, support, and provide technical expertise on projects aimed at developing new capabilities in the energy storage industry, such as new molecules, formulations, intellectual property, products, processes, and tests.
  • Serve as a technical focal point, representing the company externally with collaborators and customers.
  • Utilize market insights to shape the development of a new polymer product portfolio.
  • Translate experimental data, both performance and characterization, into technology design.
  • Actively contribute to the safe and efficient working practices in the laboratory.
  • Help further develop the new battery lab to enhance its capabilities.
  • Communicate your ideas effectively to various audiences, including through documentation.
  • Collaborate within the team and across diverse teams within the company.
  • Leverage external resources to successfully deliver value-added products.
  • Perform any additional responsibilities as assigned.


Desired profile:

  • Would prefer 5-7+ years of experience in the energy storage field, but candidates with 2+ years of experience will be considered. Preference for candidates with battery cell or part-cell development experience.
  • Demonstrable applied commercial experience in the energy storage field.
  • Familiarity with the strengths and weaknesses of the materials used in cutting-edge battery technology.
  • Understanding of electrochemistry - methods, data analysis, and material characteristics.
  • Hands-on experience and capability are desired, although a team of technicians will perform routine operations.
  • Experience in Li-ion coin/pouch cell assembly and failure analysis.
  • A track record of commercial product delivery and intellectual property generation.
  • Extensive knowledge and industry network, from both technical and marketing perspectives, that can translate into projects with a clear path to solving cutting-edge problems.
  • A technical background (Bachelor's degree or higher) in Engineering, Chemistry, and/or Material Sciences, with a preference for a PhD.
  • Strong technical communication skills (written, verbal, and graphic) to develop compelling technical arguments and convey them effectively at the appropriate level with knowledge and confidence.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and develop personal relationships.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to think logically, applying different tactics to solve problems using both internal and external resources.
  • Capacity to deal with uncertainty and ambiguity, taking a flexible approach when faced with limited information due to external circumstances.
  • Ability to efficiently balance priorities and make independent, timely decisions.
