Job Description

The client is a leading manufacturer of heavy-duty, zero-emissions hydrogen fuel cell stacks and engines, seeking a Principal Engineer specializing in LabVIEW software development. With operations in the U.S. and Europe, they deliver clean, efficient products for industrial vehicles and transportation markets.

As an independently operated subsidiary of a larger corporation, they play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable mobility solutions globally.

Position Overview:

They are seeking a Principal Engineer with extensive LabVIEW development experience to join our team. This role focuses on developing and maintaining software applications crucial for the development and testing of fuel cell products. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating robust, customer-facing software solutions and specialized test software primarily using LabVIEW.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop fully functional, tested, and released LabVIEW software applications.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for version control history and bug tracking.
  • Ensure alignment of software test processes across all Nuvera sites.
  • Implement software versioning and revision control via their Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and other tools.
  • Provide ongoing support for deployed software versions in field and service environments.
  • Design and integrate user interfaces for effective data acquisition and control.
  • Mentor and provide on-the-job training to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Collaborate across departments to enhance department procedures and systems.
  • Monitor project scope and schedules to ensure timely delivery.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Certification:

  • National Instruments Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA) certification highly preferred.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of professional experience.
  • 8+ years of LabVIEW development experience.
  • Extensive experience with supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in LabVIEW, NI DAQmx, and NI VISA drivers.
  • Familiarity with CAN and Modbus network protocols.
  • Expertise in software version control systems and issue tracking systems.
  • Strong understanding of control specifications and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Ability to develop comprehensive Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Graphical User Interfaces (GUI).
  • Experience with PID control algorithms and software-based calibration routines.
  • Knowledge of simulation tools such as Simulink is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
