Incredible opportunity with an ESOP company offering excellent work–life balance.Senior Geotechnical Engineer (PE Required) Position Overview We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to directly replace a long-tenured engineer retiring in early 2026. This is a full-time, office-based leadership role located in Frederick, Maryland headquarters with occasional travel to project sites and our Hanover laboratory. The successful candidate will inherit an established book of business and immediately step into a key technical and client-facing position.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and perform geotechnical investigations and analyses including shallow and deep foundation design, slope stability, soil mechanics, settlement, and pavement designPrepare, review, and seal technical proposals, cost estimates, specifications, and geotechnical reportsReview and approve daily Construction Materials Testing (CMT) field and laboratory reportsProvide senior-level technical guidance to project managers, junior staff, and field teamsServe as primary client contact during design, pre-construction, and construction phases (including kick-off site visits and periodic oversight)Collaborate closely with the CMT Manager (Hanover office) on testing scopes and quality controlDirectly manage one mid-level geotechnical staff memberRequired QualificationsActive Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington DC10–15+ years of geotechnical engineering experience in the Mid-Atlantic regionBachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred/strongly desired)Demonstrated proficiency with gINT, OpenGround, Slope/W, and G-StableStrong working knowledge of construction materials testing procedures and daily report reviewExcellent oral and written communication skillsValid driver’s license and ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbsPreferred QualificationsExisting client relationships in Maryland, Northern Virginia, or DC metro marketsSpecific experience with deep foundation systems (drilled shafts, driven piles, micropiles)Prior experience mentoring junior staff and managing small teams
