Formulation Manager-Manufacturing

Reports to : Plant Manager

Status : Full Time; Exempt

Location : Belcamp, MD

Salary : up to 100-115K


Job Summary:

Oversee all aspects of Formulation and Material Handling for all shifts. Will provide direction to the Formulation Supervisor in accomplishing the overall department objectives.

Responsibilities:

•Directly manage all aspects of employment life cycle for staffing to include but not be limited to: Interviewing, Selection, Training, Time management, Scheduling, Directing work, Promotions/Status changes, Disciplining, Terminations, Performance management, Monitoring, and implementing legal compliance measures.

•Directly manages formulation supervisors.

•Plan and direct daily work assignments.

•Ensure department duties are completed by staff.

•Retrieve raw materials and ingredients from warehouse rack locations.

•Accurately weigh, label, and palletize seasoning batches needed for production.

•Follow the production schedule and complete the formulation of seasoning batches based on the order the batches will be produced.

•Properly seal and return all unused materials to the correct warehouse location.

•Fill in for supervisor, lead, material handling or formulator positions as needed.

•Monitor and coordinate all activities within and between departments to meet standards.

•Develop, implement, and enforce departmental processes and procedures that maintain accurate inventory levels and correct use of systems.

•Train new employees on job SOP's, GMP's and equipment used to formulate.

•Utilize CSC Inventory and Paycom systems to perform managerial duties.

•Conduct 90-day and annual reviews on employees and provide consistent feedback.

•Administer & document discipline for performance and attendance.

•Lead efforts to troubleshoot inventory issues and cycle counting.

•Conduct audits on formulators work.

•Attend daily scheduling meeting.

•Lead efforts to correct and help solve food safety issues.

•Operate forklift equipment.

•Act as MOD as needed and/or per schedule.

•Coach and assist personnel in an uplifting, supportive manner.

•Mitigate complaints, mediate personnel issues, and resolve problems.

•Lead investigation and follow-up of near misses, addressing those involved.

Requirements:

•High School diploma/GED required

•Bachelor's degree in related field highly preferred. Associate's degree preferred

•Must have 2 years' experience in supervisory role, within manufacturing preferred; within formulation a plus

•5 years' manufacturing experience required; food industry preferred

•Experience picking, material handling, and order selection of materials

•Ability to perform all formulation and material handling jobs

•Must be Forklift certified

•Exceptional math skills

•Strong oral comprehension and expression skills

•Must have dependability with a sense of urgency

•Demonstrated success in building teams

•Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of employees

•Must be self-motivated with strong initiative

•Must have solid decision-making and problem-solving skills

•Must have the ability to motivate teams of employees

•Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

•Computer proficiency required; Highly proficient in Microsoft Office

•PCQI Trained preferred; ability to get trained required

•Stand for the duration of the shift

•Walk long distances

•Ability to climb on and off a Forklift occasionally

•Push, pull, lift, & carry heavy products such as equipment, bags and drums weighing up to 100lbs

•Able to extend arms with hands over the head or at shoulder height

•Hold, grasp or turn with the use of hands.

•Touch, pickup, and pinch with the use of fingers

•Kneel, stoop, or bend downwards and forward

•Ascend or descend ladders and platforms

•Stand, work, and walk at heights on platforms at least six feet or higher.

•Express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word. Convey detailed instructions to others

•Able to hear, understand and distinguish speech and/or other sounds such as machinery alarms

•Near and far visual acuity required

•Work in an environment that is noisy, dusty and may contain spices with high heat intensity

•Withstand working in cold and hot temperatures for long periods of time

•Must be able to read and write English
