THE OPPORTUNITY

The Shipping and Receiving Manager manages the shipping, receiving, and material handling functions for our organization. This position is a change agent who continually reviews processes, procedures, and policies to implement best-in-class processes. The Shipping and Receiving Manager builds processes to achieve key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, inventory turns, and inventory accuracy. This position develops employees by hiring for open positions, preparing training plans, verifying training effectiveness, and motivating employees to complete the work assigned.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and maintain policies, procedures and practices relating to the management of the shipping, receiving, and material handling functions including budget, continuous improvement, inventory control, scheduling of domestic and international shipments, shipping documentation compliance, receipt of deliveries, and internal material and product movement.
  • Leads the shipping, receiving, and material handling team, evaluates team performance, mentors team, and builds training and development plans with the HR/Training department.
  • Evaluate and implement policies and procedures in the department for continuous improvement and best-in-class processes.
  • Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly inventory analysis reports to help drive waste from processes while maintaining delivery requirements to customers, internal and external.
  • Plan and execute the physical inventory and cycle counts to verify actual against recorded inventory levels. Identify and resolve transactional discrepancies related to the movement of products.
  • Manages the optimization of storage space for finished parts, finished goods, and raw materials to increase the efficiency of space, flow, and movement of items
  • Negotiate shipping and freight rates and arrangements, both domestically & internationally, with carriers and use appropriate software to reduce transportation costs. Also reviews and approves inbound and outbound freight invoices.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field and 3+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Is fact-based and possesses strong math, analytical, reasoning, and critical thinking skills with an executional mindset.
  • Strategic planning and meticulous organizational abilities.
  • High sense of urgency towards completing assigned tasks on time.
  • Is Scrappy, looks beyond the obvious for ideas that drive a positive outcome. Does more with less.
  • Is resilient, and understands change is constant.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office products and shipping/receiving software
  • Strong working knowledge of an ERP system
