As a regulated manufacturer, automation/IT services must align with relevant regulatory standards and be tailored to meet specific internal and/or client contract requirements.


Standard automation/IT services include, but are not limited to, operations for communications, networks, data centers, enterprise systems and application support, help desk and end user services, application development, end user device management, asset management, patch management, release management, desktop management, and server/storage management.


Automation/IT professionals are responsible for the direction, definition, design, development/application, integration, deployment, documentation, and operational consulting support of systems software and equipment used in control systems, manufacturing information systems, lab systems, and business systems.


The role involves serving as a subject matter expert (SME) and supporting process control systems. Responsibilities include leading and executing small automation and control system projects, performing preventative maintenance, identifying and implementing control system improvements, and providing training to operations personnel. Additionally, the role involves assisting with integrated IT/automation services to ensure data protection per regulatory standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate self-directed learning and initiative supporting multiple projects and priorities.
  • Serve as a department SME, maintaining a thorough working knowledge of process automation systems and control applications.
  • Interact and collaborate with management and staff to achieve project goals.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to customers, resolving issues to their satisfaction.
  • Develop procedures, training, and documentation per company, client, and regulatory specifications.
  • Train users on automation/IT systems.
  • Maintain daily performance support of automation/IT systems, including diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Resolve technical problems with automation networks and process control infrastructures.
  • Lead the implementation of changes to process control systems ensuring compliance with change control systems.
  • Provide system maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Validate new control applications and maintain systems in a validated state.
  • Identify and implement system improvements while adhering to established standards.
  • Support the review of user requirements and development of automation plans for projects

  • PLC programming (e.g., Allen Bradley)
  • HMI development and programming
  • Automation communication protocols
  • Automated valve management
  • Interpreting electrical and process instrumentation drawings (P&IDs)
  • Understanding Modbus protocol language
