This role is hybrid.


Job Description:

As a TAK (Tactical Assault Kit) Engineer at Vatn, you will play a critical role in the development and integration of Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) systems into our autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team of engineers and software developers to ensure seamless integration and functionality of TAK systems tailored for underwater defense applications.


Responsibilities:

  1. Design, develop, and integrate TAK plugin to functionally integrate with Vatn’s robotics systems.
  2. Collaborate with software engineers and developers to ensure compatibility and interoperability of TAK software with AUV platforms.
  3. Conduct testing and validation of TAK systems in simulated and real-world underwater environments.
  4. Optimize TAK systems for performance, reliability, and security in underwater operational scenarios.
  5. Provide technical expertise and support for TAK-related inquiries from internal teams and external stakeholders.
  6. Stay updated on the latest advancements in TAK technology and incorporate relevant innovations into our AUV platforms.
  7. Document design specifications, test procedures, and integration processes related to TAK systems.
  8. Participate in cross-functional meetings and discussions to contribute insights and recommendations for enhancing overall system capabilities.


Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  2. Proven experience in designing, implementing, and integrating TAK systems or similar tactical communication systems.
  3. Proficiency in software development in Kotlin and Java as a minimum, Python & C/C++ proficiency is helpful.
  4. Familiarity with tactical communications methods and implementation on embedded systems (including RF, LTE, SDR).
  5. Strong understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP, UDP, and network security.
  6. Experience with underwater communication protocols and acoustic modems is a plus.
  7. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment with a high degree of autonomy and initiative.
  8. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  9. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
