Position Title: Material Handler


Location: Houston, TX 77015

Pay: $18.50/hr

Schedule: Rotating Shift

Type: Temp-to-hire


Essential Functions:

- **Unload and Store Material:**

- Unload, store, and place raw material for processing.

- Verify material accuracy as per orders.

- Follow practices outlined in SSAB’s ISO programs.

- **Off-load and Staging:**

- Off-load material from the production line.

- Place material into staging areas.

- Fill customer orders from stock, ensuring correct identification and quality as per ASTM or customer specifications.


Loading:

- Load material onto trucks or rail cars.

- Verify material accuracy as per customer orders.

- **Crane Inspections:**

- Conduct daily crane inspections.

- **Safety and Attendance:**

- Follow all safety rules and regulations.

- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

- **Office Presence:**

- Required to be present in the office as needed.


Work Environment and Physical Demands:


Frequent Requirements:

- Sit, stand, and walk for up to 8 hours at a time.

- Use hands for grasping, handling, gripping, and feeling textures and temperatures.

- Lift and/or move up to 35 lbs.


Occasional Requirements:

- Balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb.

- Bend, twist at the waist, and reach at or above shoulder level and below waist level.

- Push, pull, lift, and/or carry items weighing less than 50 pounds.

- **Vision and Hearing Capabilities:**

- Vision at near, mid, and far ranges, with peripheral vision and depth perception.

- Talking and hearing in person, on a radio, and/or in group settings.

- **Tools and Equipment:**

- Desktop computer

- Hand tools

- Overhead floor remote cranes


Conditions:

- Extreme heat and extreme cold

- Around equipment in motion

- Exposure to noise

- Use of personal protective/safety equipment to prevent injury from noise and environmental hazards

- Around moving trucks and industrial mobile equipment


Requirements:


Experience and Qualifications:

- Previous experience operating overhead cranes.

- Must have a valid driver’s license and GED/HSD.

- Ability to work weekends.
