Position Summary

A Manufacturing Technician 1 takes pride in their hands-on capabilities, sense of urgency, attention to detail and appreciates an environment where superior work is expected and acknowledged. A Manufacturing Technician 1 must be able to perform a wide variety of essential functions across multiple manufacturing work centers, including assembly, packaging, and “light industrial” work. Excellent attendance is required, as this individual contributor performs daily work on which the entire team relies, and is a critical function of the job. Operators are expected to be comfortable working in a team environment, wearing protective gowning, and standing for prolonged periods of time, during either the staging, set-up, assembly, and/or kitting processes throughout the shift.

Responsibilities:

Follow all Illumina safety protocols and practices, Production Ground Rules (PGR) and immediately report any safety incidences.

Perform a wide variety of assigned manufacturing tasks to produce high-quality products under general supervision

Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient work area at all times (6S)

Comply with all requirements of the Illumina Quality System; all manufacturing, regulatory and safety requirements (FDA, MDSAP, ISO Standards, OSHA, etc.)

Read and adhere to Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), GDP, and cGMP

Perform product quality control procedures; including inspection, data collection, and escalation of defects

Performs area line clearance to prevent cross contamination and ensure product integrity

Perform various operations using Microsoft operating systems and computer applications

Perform work order processing to complete products to inventory (SAP)

Operation of various liquid-handling automated systems and tooling apparatuses

Perform labeling, kitting and other packaging functions

Record production data on controlled forms, following current GDP as defined by the Illumina quality system

Verification of production equipment including equipment status, calibration, preventative maintenance and operator maintenance requirements

Notify supervisors or other designated personnel of production issues (nonconformances, work order discrepancies, equipment malfunction, etc.)

Communicate suggestions for improvements to supervisor in order to enhance product quality, employee productivity, and workplace safety

Mixing, storing, and disposing of chemical solutions (may include hazardous material)

Meet operator target metrics respective to Manufacturing Technician 1

All listed tasks and responsibilities are deemed essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional tasks and responsibilities. Changes to an individual’s responsibilities may occur due to business needs.

Requirements

  • Adherence to all Illumina personal protective equipment (PPE) and gowning requirements
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to operate automated equipment and use basic hand tools
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Supervisor and team members
  • Ability to understand, read, and follow written and oral instructions, in English, with minimal supervision
  • Ability to use computers with Windows OS and Illumina applications (SAP, Camstar, etc.)
