Insight Global is looking for a Short Term Consultant to be onsite in the Sterling, Virginia data center as part of a surge team performing the unracking/uncabling of equipment and loading for transport in support of a large Data Center move project. The person will also perform the racking and cabling of equipment at the new Data Center location in Ashburn, Virginia. The person will complete inventory and other paperwork for the equipment, as required. All work will be done under the direction of the Program Engineer who is responsible for the cabinet configuration and cable management. The project is roughly 3-4 months in duration from December 2, 2024 through April 30, 2025.
Must Haves:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
- Federal Government active Public Trust clearance
- Physical Requirement: Must be able to work on a ladder and/or scissor lift, in confined spaces, lift to 50 pounds, and move up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work on your feet for entire shift.
- Tools Experience: Basic Hand Tools: screwdriver (multi-Bit), tape measure, snips, pliers (needle nose and channel locks), punch down tool, flashlight, work boots (steel toe or composite toe) gloves and tool pouch.
- Record of on-time work attendance
- Have a reliable form of transportation
Responsibilities:
- Performs hardware installation & decommission of enterprise servers and network equipment
- Performs cabling infrastructure activities
- Rack and stack of data center equipment, including but not limited to servers, networking devices, and other equipment.
- Installs rack/cabinets, including putting racks in place, cabling, power up and handoff of servers to internal provisioning teams.
- Inventories equipment and documents as per SOPs.
- Performs labeling of equipment as per documentation and SOPs.
- Performs structured cabling of equipment in rack/cabinet as per cabling documentation and troubleshooting of fiber/copper/telecom cables, as necessary.
- Performs cable management (dressing and labeling) as per documentation and SOPs.
- Carries and moves equipment to transport location.
