Position: Controls Engineer

Duration: 1 year contract

Shift: Rotating – 1st, 2nd, 3rd

Compensation: $40-$50/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent automations controls engineering experience
  • 2+ years of Controls experience in Manufacturing Environment
  • Proficient in Industrial Networking protocols – Profibus, Profinet, TCP/IP, & EthernetIP
  • HMI – Siemens TIA Portal & Rockwell FactoryTalk View
  • PLC Rockwell ControlLogix and/or Siemens 300F
  • Servo drive systems – Siemens G120 & S120, Rockwell Powerflex, & Kinetix


Plusses:

  • Vision Cameras
  • Fanuc or Siemens CNC experience
  • Fanuc Robot Programming experience


Day to Day:

Insight Global is looking for a Controls Engineer in the Hamtramck, Michigan area. The Controls Engineer will be responsible for working with electrical or computer engineering with strong programming skills. Looking for someone who can perform at a high level in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing facility. This person shall be comfortable supporting manufacturing processes on the production floor. As a Controls Engineer you will be addressing production issues alongside quality, manufacturing, and maintenance teams. Additionally, you will be expected to maintain, and improve existing production processes by using continuous improvement and problem-solving techniques, configuring, programming, testing and troubleshooting PLC based control systems and associated components. You will be responsible for electrical troubleshooting and testing of controls systems, control panels, and associated equipment. The Engineer will need to diagnose and correct deficiencies in manufacturing processes and equipment, develop innovative solutions, support and actively interact with manufacturing, maintenance, and quality groups, and continuously improve quality, cost, responsiveness & safety.


Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Engineer and design pneumatic piping diagrams.
  • Engineer and design electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Engineer and design hydraulic piping diagrams.
  • Design electrical control panels.
  • Design programmable logic controller software.
  • Design programmable human machine interface (HMI) software.
  • Tryout, debug and provide start-up support for control systems.
  • Provide technical support for installation of tools and equipment.
  • Provide technical support for training of plant personnel.
  • Travel to plant sites as required
