Data Center Technician

Tandym Group is looking for Data Center Technicians to join our rapidly expanding team in Umatilla and Boardman, Oregon. We have positions available for day and night shift. Employees may be required to travel within 5-mile radius of the sites to other locations. (This mileage is eligible for reimbursement.)
This is supporting a Fortune 10 Company
Responsibilities:
- This position involves work in customer's Data center, providing 24x7 technical support.
- Install and configure from data link layer to application layer of the whole network system in the data center.
- Daily monitor and maintain the network, ensure network availability so that the remote users can have stable access to the servers.
- Engage in site layout, network construction planning, quality control and ensure data safety.
- Supervise server support specialist to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of L1-L7 network architecture, TCP/IP, Switching, Routing, and Optical communication technology.
- Experience installing servers and their components including installing boards, cards, hard drives, and a diverse number of software products.
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills to be able to analyze hardware and software problems; research and resolve complex issues; and interface with customers, manufacturers, and technical support staff.
- Ability to diagnose data communications problems with using specialized tools, test equipment, and software utilities.
- Extensive, successful experience interacting with both coworkers and customers.
- Basic Understanding of Computer Hardware.
- Basic Understanding of Computer Networking.
- Ability to exhibit good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to function well under pressure with multiple priorities.
- Employment for all candidates is contingent upon passing a background check.
- This position has a physical component. Candidates should be able to lift to 50lbs and may require need to work in cramped spaces or elevated locations.
- A valid driver's license and vehicle is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A+ and CCNA certifications; and/or training from applicable hardware and software manufacturers will be an asset.
- Knowing power and air flow system will be an asset.
- An associate degree or equivalent experience in an IT related field.
