Investigators will use many methods to gather facts in a myriad of matters for both private and public sector clients. In order to accomplish this, investigators will utilize various types of investigative techniques.  Information gathered may be used to assist attorneys, investigators, businesses, or the public with legal, financial, and personal problems.

 

Investigative work may involve performing various activities including:  background investigations, criminal and civil investigations, executive protection/security, fraud investigations, subpoena service, undercover operations, surveillance/photographic services, electronic countermeasures, and litigation support.

 

Investigators may conduct investigations in order to assist law firms and lawyers on pending legal action. This frequently involves preparing criminal defenses, locating witnesses, serving legal documents, interviewing police and prospective witnesses, and gathering and reviewing evidence. Investigators also may collect information on the parties to the litigation, take photographs, testify in court, and assemble evidence and reports for trials.

 

Investigators may perform computer database searches in order to obtain information on individuals’ prior arrests, convictions, and civil legal judgments; telephone numbers; motor vehicle registrations; association and club memberships; and other matters.
