GENERAL SUMMARY
The Warehouse Logistics Supervisor organizes all daily outbound logistical operations and serves as liaison between customers, manufacturing, shipping and our 3rd Party Logistics Delivery Team. The Warehouse Logistics Supervisor is responsible for evaluating, training and directing all logistics employees – the truck loaders and finished goods staging personnel. This position plays an active role in researching cost savings opportunities and presents findings to the Supply Chain Manager. The Warehouse Logistics Supervisor manages all aspects of fleet maintenance – yard tractor and storage trailers. This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates the loading and routing of all finished goods to and from customers.
- In collaboration with the Supply Chain Manager, analyzes current logistics systems and procedures with a goal to identify and implement cost savings measures.
- Develops, updates, and maintains procedures and documentation for all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relating to loading and staging.
- Develops and recommends improvements of inventory storage, equipment, or procedures to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Develops and conducts training program(s) to ensure loaders and stagers are operating in a safe and efficient manner.
- Works with Production Supervisors to expedite product needed for loading to reduce loader dwell time and maximize efficiency.
- Liaise with Customer Service to reduce complexity and ensure loading accuracy.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of Shipping/Delivery and Inventory/Replenishing procedures.
- Establish records management system to accurately track metrics to include efficiency and any quality issues encountered.
- Knowledge of safe work habits necessary for departmental staff to perform their duties injury free such as proper lifting techniques and inspection and maintenance of motor vehicles and equipment.
- Must have the ability to maintain good working relationships with customers, employees, and industry professionals.
- Must have effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly express thoughts and ideas to others.
- This position requires a professional demeanor and an orientation toward excellent client services.
Summary Minimum Education & Experience Required
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and/or a similar combination of experience in a position with increasingly responsible experience in modern inventory/receiving techniques along with a variety of related records keeping duties.
- Must have a broad range of shipping/receiving knowledge, inventory procedures, a manufacturing background, and must be able to plan and think strategically.
- Must have excellent leadership skills, organizational skills, and a positive style personality.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work inside, work protracted or irregular hours, work around machines with moving parts, and moving objects.
- This position will work closely with others in addition to working alone.
- The supervisor may be exposed to excessive or intermittent noise and/or dust.Equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing only the essential functions include manufacturing machines and equipment, hand tools, computer and related equipment, calculator, copier, fax machine, possibly a forklift, and automobile.
- Considerable physical exertion required involving bending, stooping, lifting, or carrying heavy items (50 - 75 lbs).
- Routine discomforts from exposure to moderate levels of heat and/or cold from working in the warehouse facility.
