Position Summary: LHH is collaborating with a client in Hudson County, NJ, to recruit a Strategic Buyer for a long-term contract. This role offers the opportunity to join a well-established team with a positive company culture. The position will begin with onsite training and transition to a hybrid work model.

Primary Duties:

  • Collaborate with departments to identify procurement needs and suitable suppliers.
  • Negotiate favorable prices for non-bid purchases.
  • Explain procurement policies and procedures to stakeholders.
  • Solicit and evaluate quotations and RFX results to ensure optimal pricing.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of RFXs and other key transactions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to understand their capabilities, negotiate terms, and address performance issues.
  • Promptly review and approve requisitions.
  • Maintain professional relationships between the client and suppliers.
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders to support procurement needs and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with client policies, as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Create and deliver training materials for procurement systems, including eProcurement and travel management tools.
  • Audit supplier files for compliance with federal and New Jersey state regulations.
  • Verify supplier business status against state and federal databases.
  • Work with the sourcing team on organizational initiatives and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, supply management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Advanced skills in Excel (Pivot Tables) and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Certificate of Insurance and W9.
  • Strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
  • At least 3 years of procurement experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with a diverse community.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Comfortable with public speaking.
  • C.P.M. or C.P.S.M. certification (preferred).
  • Experience with eProcurement systems (client transitioning to Unipart).
  • Team-oriented mindset
