ABOUT THE ROLE… You reside in Cedar Rapids, IA or the surrounding area and will work on-site at the Cedar Rapids office. You will have a passion for medical design, a client focused mindset, and love collaboration and creative solutions. You will be responsible for leading the projects during design through construction and to successful completion. Your work will require you to have highly developed expertise in project management, architectural design, and technical knowledge. Minimum Requirements:

  • National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) Record and Certificate
  • 5+ years of Architectural experience
  • Medical design experience (preferred)
  • Licensure in current jurisdictions: IA, NE, KS, and MO and/or willing to obtain licensure in other states as required


Responsibilities:

  • Live the principles of Primus CORE values
  • Lead the design of projects in multiple states and research licensure requirements in new jurisdictions as required
  • Coordinate with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to determine requirements for plan review including, but not limited to, required information to be included in construction documents, approvals needed, process for permitting, and schedule for plan review/approval
  • Assist Project Advisors with meetings and drawings that lead to successful sales goals
  • Work with Project Advisors to determine the viability of proposed tenant build-outs or ground-up sites
  • Meet with clients to develop the project scope and design objectives
  • Provide continuous communication with the client throughout the project
  • Analyze building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements, local ordinances, design standards and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on architectural designs
  • Work with state, county, and city governments to ensure project compliance with applicable codes, rules, or regulations
  • Develop site plans, schematic floor plans and exterior elevations
  • Develop construction documents including floor, ceiling, and roof plans, building sections, large scale details, casework drawings and details, finish plans, electrical plans, etc.
  • Utilize computer-aided drafting software (CAD) or conventional drafting station to produce designs, working drawings, site plans, and construction documents
  • Assist Project Manager in determining required materials and necessary project detail for bidding and pricing
  • Facilitate the design and selection of both interior and exterior materials, colors, and finishes
  • Maintain working knowledge of all materials that are used in any part of the project
  • Lead the process of submitting and obtaining building permits
  • Provide information and coordinate drawings with consultants including civil, geotechnical, structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical engineers, dental equipment provider, or any other vendor, sub-consultant, or sub-contractor as required and coordinate with others at Primus to get contracts issued
  • Coordinate project schedule during design with others and monitor progress
  • Work with Project Managers, field superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, etc., to answer construction related questions, review shop drawings and trouble-shoot as required in a timely manner to ensure construction schedule is maintained
  • Other tasks as assigned
