Qualifications: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and ADCI Certified (both are mandatory).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state, with the ability and willingness to obtain California PE certification within three months of hire.
  • ADCI (Association of Diving Contractors International) certification.
  • Proven experience in bridge inspections, with expertise in structural analysis and underwater inspection techniques.


Role Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Underwater Inspection Engineer to join our team in Santa Cruz, CA. This role is pivotal in ensuring the structural integrity and safety of bridges, seawalls, and other underwater installations. Combining professional engineering expertise with commercial diving capabilities, the successful candidate will perform underwater inspections, analyze findings, and deliver detailed reports for further engineering actions.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive underwater inspections of bridges and other critical infrastructure, identifying signs of damage, corrosion, or structural issues.
  • Utilize advanced underwater tools, including sonar imaging, underwater photography, and videography, to document findings.
  • Prepare detailed reports on inspection results, including structural assessments, repair recommendations, and project timeline/cost estimations.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop repair strategies, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Stay updated on the latest underwater inspection technologies and best practices, applying them to daily operations.
  • Travel to project sites, with a primary focus on operations in California.



Required Skills and Experience:

  • Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) and ADCI diver (both are mandatory).
  • Extensive experience in bridge inspections and underwater structural assessments.
  • Proficiency in using underwater inspection tools and technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex structural evaluations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of preparing detailed reports and presenting findings to stakeholders.
  • Commitment to safety and a thorough understanding of diving safety protocols.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively for project assignments.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software.
  • Familiarity with California regulations and standards for underwater structures and inspections.
  • Additional certifications related to advanced diving or underwater bridge inspections.
