Job Title: Sr. Quality Engineer
We currently seek an up-and-coming Sr. Quality Engineer to join our client’s team of experienced professionals. This individual will provide essential support to the Quality Control Lab and Quality Clinic, and essential training to the inspectors. This individual will act as the liaison for customer source inspections and will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet customer specifications and maintain superior quality and reliability standards. This role involves overseeing corrective actions for customer requests, implementing preventative measures, establishing quality and process control systems, and documenting requirements. Additionally, the Quality Manager develops protocols to educate personnel on internal quality issues, supports product and process improvements, and monitors the Quality System for non-value-added operations. Other duties as assigned by the President may also be required. This individual will report directly to the Quality Assurance Manager in Milford, CT.
- Job Requirements: Reports directly to the Quality Manager. This individual is charged with the support of the labs and assist with supervision as required in the Quality Control Lab, the Quality Clinic as it pertains to non-conforming product.
- Assist with the evaluation of inspector abilities in the Quality Control Lab as it pertains to training needs.
- Perform First Piece inspections (or designate inspector) for in process jobs.
- Responsible for PPAP control and documentation.
- Evaluate and record product nonconformities, which may be beyond the knowledge or scope of the inspector’s experience.
- Write MDR’s and chair the MDR meeting. Determine final dispositions from needed parties within the company to allow the MDR to be closed by the Quality Manager.
- Schedule Quality Clinic Meetings to meet clinic requirements for continuous improvement.
- Report out on monthly/yearly metrics.
- Evaluate and train inspectors as required, to improve their capabilities and inspection skills.
- Ability to cover each position within the Quality Control Lab on a needs or emergency basis.
- Assist with recording and tracking productivity of the inspectors to be used by Quality Manager for evaluations semi-annually.
- Act as the company liaison with all customer source inspections and product presentations.
- Evaluate inspection equipment and make recommendations for upgrade/improvement.
- Perform evaluation of CDA’s with dimensional issues to determine the validity of customer rejects
- Maintain Cage returns, Inspection locations, and MDR locations within the company's Quality System for accuracy.
- Disposition of non-conforming products as per engineering training matrix.
- Qualifications: Knowledge and understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Blueprint reading.
- Basic computer technology skills needed in reporting.
- Knowledge of military specification standards.
- 12 years experience in Quality in a related position within a manufacturing environment.
- 8 years of supervisory experience in a Quality environment.
- Degree or similar level of ability demonstrated by education and experience.
- Advanced knowledge of ISO 2000, AS9100 & TS16949 standards and their applications.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of measuring equipment of all kinds needed to measure complex parts with right tolerances.
