Job Title: Materials Planner
Location: Hayward, CA
Duration: 3 Months (with possible extension)
Payrate: $35/hr. to $43/hr.
The Role
As a Material Planner, you’ll be responsible for ensuring raw materials and components are delivered in a timely manner to support Production needs at optimal efficiency and cost effectiveness. This individual must fully understand supply chain and operations and be an expert on their assigned product or commodities.
Responsibilities
- This role involves daily management of supply and constraints, status reporting and escalation, supplier engagement, and the relentless pursuit of operational excellence and continuous improvement
- Work with external suppliers to establish the appropriate delivery schedules for individual components, specifying quantity and frequency targeting on-time delivery; coordinate with the Supply Chain team and Logistics as needed.
- Own the leadership communication on the program to all key stakeholders: Program Management, PMI, Engineering & Supply Chain.
- Use and maintain designated planning and inventory tools and software to optimize supply planning and staging
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Engineering to support material changes resulting from Change action (CAs), plan for new material, and minimize obsolescence of old material
- Identify and tackle clear to build exceptions daily, reacting as needed to ensure supply continuity for manufacturing operations, expediting orders when appropriate, and working closely with Logistics partners to optimize freight expense and expedite requests.
- Recalculate orders and requirements as needed by analyzing trends in demand, changes in lead time, minimum order quantities, standard batch sizes and safety stock levels
- Coordinate with Suppliers and Warehouse team to resolve shipment discrepancies
Qualifications
- Proficiency of MRP/ERP with a sound understanding of material requirements planning, bills of material, inventory control, product lifecycle management (PLM), procure to pay processes, and supply chain operations
- Strong analytical capabilities, including ability to optimize delivery costs and inventory levels are desired
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks based on demand
- Ability to present material status effectively in weekly program/executive meetings
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in developing, implementing, and assessing key operational and financial metrics
- Demonstrated skills in supplier operational and relationship management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
