We are seeking a Sr. Healthcare Epic Project Manager who will lead large IT projects with a high level of complexity. The Project Manager will provide leadership and be responsible for the creation, coordination, and management of a project plan for a major complex system migration in a Healthcare setting. The PM will need experience working with waterfall, agile, and hybrid teams.
This assignment will be responsible for an Epic Cupid implementation and OpTime upgrade, including data migration with full reconciliation. A total of 8 applications will be migrated on separate timelines, including 8 available service lines and 4 upcoming service lines. The implementation will take a year or more to complete and will involve a high level of interaction with physicians.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manages multiple hospital Epic projects of varying degrees of complexity and risk, from inception to successful completion.
- Effectively applies enterprise PMO methodology and enforces project standards.
- Documents the scope and objectives of assigned projects. With the support of the team and sponsors, develops a comprehensive and well-planned method for fulfilling project scope and objectives. Identifies skill sets, team roles, and financial resources needed to accomplish project goals. Creates reliable project resource estimates, project work plans, and timelines.
- Provides team leadership throughout the project. Provides oversight and management of team members, addressing team cohesion, conflict management, independent work, on-time delivery, performance mentoring, motivation, and evaluation.
- Communicates effectively with relevant project staff, business owners, stakeholders, and executive sponsors. Develops and executes project communication plans specific to the project and appropriate for all levels of the organization. Has the creative ability to schedule with physicians and hospital leadership.
- Prepares for schedules and leads project meetings, including team meetings, sponsor meetings, vendor meetings, etc.
- Manages vendor relationship as it pertains to project planning and execution. Coordinates with vendor management, all vendor project task completion, and quality reviews.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 5+ years solid experience as a healthcare / hospital Project Manager in IT project management with increasing responsibilities.
- Strong Project Management experience within a Healthcare / Hospital environment is highly desired, including experience in steering committee and working committees, project documents, strong tracking methodology, and strong escalation skills.
- Information Services / Technology / Enterprise System migration experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
- Experience working with waterfall, agile, and hybrid methodology teams.
- Experience managing healthcare clinical system implementations and upgrades.
- Knowledge of Epic project management philosophy and experience with Epic workflows is required; Epic certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of workflows in Cath Lab, PACS, Radiology, and OR areas preferred.
- Clinical (inpatient and outpatient) and application experience is a plus.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
