The Vice-President of Finance is a leadership position with responsibility for oversight of all financial functions for the company. This role is a member of the Executive team and will report to the COO. Valor Victoria (VV) is a team with a fully remote workforce, which presents some unique challenges, but can also be attractive to prospective employees. Experience managing a remote workforce is a plus.


A critical component of the role is experience in ERP change management, specifically NetSuite products.  A unique element of this position is that some experience with or knowledge of Human Resources management is also a plus, if not a requirement. This position interacts regularly with all leadership positions within VV and serves as a steward of the company’s financial health and related functions.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

·      Finance Team Management. Oversee and direct the finance team, consisting of Accounting & Analysis, and the Assistant Vice-President, Finance & Administration, who manages Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. Provide direction on policies and procedures.

·      Cash flow. Manage cash effectively, ensuring availability of funds for payments to vendors, payroll, and other cash requirements. Limit borrowing effectively to reduce interest and fees expenses, while managing a prudent cash position for the company’s cash needs and plans. Oversee and direct cash flow forecasting processes.

·      Vendor Payments. Execute timely payments to vendors, by check, ACH or wire, and/or delegate payments to other financial team members while maintaining internal controls.

·      Banking. Manage bank relationships, including checking and other depository accounts, and lender. Ensure compliance with lender requirements.

·      Financial Reporting. Prepare and/or assign responsibility for financial reports, internal and external. Make recommendations for additional or revised reporting to help leadership manage business operations.

·      Taxes. Coordinate with CPA firm to provide necessary information for preparation of company’s tax returns.

·      Process review. Continually review Finance function processes for improvement to reflect best practices in line with VV culture.

·      Future opportunities. Oversee and manage a transition to a new financial accounting software system. Commence and manage an external audit by CPA firm for year end 2024.

·      Oversight. This position oversees team members how lead insurance, payroll, and HR functions. 

o   Human Resource. Duties include managing team members who have oversight of job descriptions, assist managers with offer letters, processing of new hires and terminations, and benefits administration, utilizing the capability of the payroll processor’s and other third-party platforms. This responsibility could transfer to an HR professional when leadership agrees adding that position to our team is necessary. 

o   Insurance. Oversee relationship with insurance providers / broker. Understand company’s insurance needs/requirement, including workers compensation, and coordinate with broker on coverage renewals and/or changes and additions.

o   Payroll. Process or oversee payroll processing, payroll accounting, and submission of contributions for benefits. Utilize third party payroll processing provider for payroll tax payments and compliance.
