Job Description:
Systems Architect is a member of the Systems Planning and Engineering team reporting to the office of the CTO. The Systems Architect is responsible for three key areas:

  • Establishment of Systems Architectural Standards relating to efficiency, security, and risk management as well as the documentation of systems within this architecture. These standards are to ensure that current and new systems meet or exceed requirements, reduce duplicity in tools and solutions offered, and to ensure RCHHC is getting the most value out of currently deployed systems.
  • Lifecycle management of all systems and infrastructure under the Systems Architect's domain, and
  • Training of junior engineers on systems and architectures as well as be an escalation point for troubleshooting problems within the Systems Architects domain. Other duties may be assigned based on the needs of RCH-SD needs.

  • Under minimal supervision, provides leadership and vision of information technology architecture and strategy for RCHHC under the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Sr. Director, related to enterprise level technology, systems, platforms, and environments. Ensures that newly acquired technology is not duplicative, meets current security standards, and ensures that RCHHC is getting the most value out of established technologies.
  • Creates and maintains system architecture standards, models, guidelines, design drawings, and business processes and ensures that architectures are in compliance with disaster recovery standards. Works with other architects, the CTO, and other division leadership to adopt these standards and models in order to enable the organization's goals. In addition, works collaboratively with technical teams and IT security to ensure security standards and best practices are part of the systems architectures and training on these architectures and systems is provided to RCHHC staff.
  • The Systems Architect must be able to serve as a technical lead for projects assigned by management and can properly assess technologies to determine what resources are required to complete the work. Will have a working knowledge of project management tools, like MS Project, and coordinate multiple project participants representing internal staff, vendor, or professional services members while in the project manager role for assigned projects.
  • The Systems Architect will provide guidance and training to the Infrastructure Department regarding short and long-term systems solutions and architecture as it pertains to cloud delivered services, systems services, data center services, and operational level standards as dictated by IT management. He/she will assist in the recommendation of Server/Storage systems and systems administration improvements and changes as it relates to processes and procedures as well as the life cycle management of systems and architectures in the RCHHC information systems environment.
  • The Systems Architect frequently interacts with other departments & management at all levels of the organization and must have the ability to defuse difficult situations & provide service recovery if needed to assure positive outcomes & prevent further escalation. Coordinates with other IS areas to resolve problems if necessary. He/she will be able to do the while maintaining a positive & professional voice & demeanor in a hectic, busy & sometimes stressful environment.
  • The Systems Architect requires comprehension & retention of large & complex amounts of new information and an understanding of systems architecture standards and methodologies. The incumbent is responsible for recommending and implementing service level agreements, proven architecture structures, and the ability to recall data to ensure systems are deployed and implemented in a standard configuration that minimizes risk, and access following an RBAC least privileges model.   • The Systems Architect is responsible for assisting with system configuration & testing and performing routine architecture configuration settings reviews to ensure compliance with information security standards, and audit remediation and findings.
  • Develops plans relating to lifecycle management of systems under their domain ensuring capacity management, end of life/end of support deadlines, and cost are minimized and become predictable events.

School Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Minimum)
  • 5 Years of Experience (Minimum) or bachelor's degree, four years of qualified experience * Other02 (Preferred)
  • The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) or similar certification

School Preferred

  • Master's Degree (Preferred) Experience
  • 10+ Years of Experience (Preferred)
  • Certification in Systems Administration (Linux, Windows, Citrix, VMware etc.)
