The Power Supply Electrical Engineer position is part of the Product Development Team. This is a full-time, exempt position. This position will require a broad range of responsibilities to ensure success. Some examples of these responsibilities are listed below (but are not limited to the following):

  • Participate in supporting design, development and sustaining electrical engineering activities within cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, and test engineering groups.
  • Utilize electrical design and development tools used in capturing circuit design schematics, laying out printed circuit boards, and performing circuit simulations.
  • Provide sustaining support for designs that include analog circuits that interface with sensors, AC/DC power supplies, and communication circuits (e.g. Ethernet I/P, 4/20mA, RS-485,…)
  • Perform electronics design verification testing activities and provide evidence to engineering supervisor and peers that designs meet or exceed specification requirements and customers’ needs.
  • Participate in design reviews and collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
  • Troubleshoot power supplies and electronic circuits to a functional block or component level.
  • Support electronics circuit card manufacturing and product manufacturing by improving product designs, streamlining manufacturing processes, reducing manufacturing costs, and improving quality.
  • Work with a cross-functional team and external suppliers to develop power supplies.
  • Work with outside contractors to build subsystems.
  • May perform modeling and simulation, controls development.
  • Utilize analytical tools available in the industry, including thermal design, algorithm development for power supply control, and magnetics design.
  • Develop test plans, conduct testing, analyze results and document results in reports.
  • Develop and maintain design documentation including schematics, bill of materials, specifications, and user manuals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics and at least 3 years of experience in systems and/or electrical product design is required.
  • Competency with standard electrical engineering laboratory equipment, tools, and instruments.
  • Strong understanding of power conversion technology, topologies, devices, circuits, systems, and controls.
  • Experience in high-power testing and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity to thermal requirements and reliability of power electronic circuits.
  • Ability to understand and review schematics, wiring diagrams (review PCB critical layout features for Power Electronics applications is a plus).
  • Switching (high and low frequency pulsing) power supplies
  • High Volt / High Amp power supply applications
