Beaver Creek Hydrology is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to work in the stream restoration industry. The Project Engineer will perform all aspects of an assigned design project and will be responsible for completing documents, forms, processes, and data gathering to ensure accurate, high-quality stream designs. This position will be primarily based in the Lexington, KY, office but will require some travel for data collection and site scoping. This position is responsible for performing specific design services at the direction of the Project Manager and in collaboration with other engineering team members. The Project Engineer will work independently or with other resources depending on the task being performed. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who is organized and able to work effectively under tight deadlines with minimal supervision. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Gather, process, and document both field and design data for projects related to wetland or stream mitigation and restoration.
  • Support design team as it relates to water-resource and mitigation bank projects. 
  • May include gathering data in the field, confirming information from other sources or preparing forms and/or designing as requested. Must be on time and complete work as scheduled. 
  • Must be familiar with terminology and all forms of stream mitigation or restoration.
  • Must be familiar with engineering design software including, but not limited to, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and HEC-RAS.
  • Willing to travel to remote areas of Kentucky and surrounding states. All travel expenses covered by employer.
  • Perform other duties as needed.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Civil and Environmental Engineering or other engineering with experience in water resources.
  • Possess an EIT certification, with plans to pursue a PE license.
  • Must have field surveying experience. Experience with processing and analyzing geomorphic data, experience with RIVERMorph is a plus.
  • Experience with survey data collection using an automatic level, total station, and/or GPS survey equipment.
  • Working knowledge in AutoCAD software.
  • Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our small business culture is a must.


Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other engineering with experience in water resources
  • Possess a PE licensure.
  • Experience with stream and wetland mitigation site identification.
  • Experience working with GIS.
  • Experience preparing reports, plans, specifications and estimates for stream restoration projects.
  • Knowledge of basic stream restoration concepts desired.
