Position Description:

Our client is looking for PACS Administrator (Digital Pathology) candidates for a position located in Birmingham, AL. As they are moving into the area of digital pathology, we are seeking candidates with any experience along with the ability to manage the PACS environment to ensure it functions efficiently and delivers quality medical images and data.


The PACS Administrator is responsible for daily operations of the PACS (Picture Archiving Communication System) and RIS. Duties include PACS services and support of the Imaging Application architecture, Vendor and Customer Support for our enterprise, and project support as needed. Additional duties include implementation, training, and monitoring. You will be responsible for supporting and maintaining PACS service for internal and external PACS partner organizations and project support services.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide maintenance of users and user profiles.
  • Maintains imaging records and system configuration and optimization
  • Manage and monitor integration between various RIS, PACS and Healthcare Partner systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to RIS, PACS and Healthcare Partner systems and modalities.
  • Support daily operations of Radiologist workflow and interpretation
  • Responsible for the day-to-day technical support of the PACS and RIS in conjunction with the PACS Services and Support team.
  • Work closely with PACS vendor for troubleshooting, design and implementation of PACS services
  • Required to perform on-call duty beyond normal work hours during on-call rotation approximately every 4 weeks – duration of on-call is 1 week.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills for interacting within all levels of the company. Must have the ability to work well in a group environment as well as working with company-wide staff, Radiologists, outside clinicians, referring offices, and updating leadership.


Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university preferred


Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of clinical information systems experience.
  • Experience in healthcare information analysis and computer system support.
  • Experience in Windows operating systems and familiarity with SQL scripting.
  • Experience in workflow support for all clinical specialties.
  • Experience with Modality configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to conduct controlled testing of systems and applications.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills with a focus on documentation of system support processes and workflows.
  • Effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to effectively translate clinical requirements into the functions and capabilities of information systems.
  • Able to work independently while handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be able to identify, propose and execute moderately complex projects.


Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of PACS software, EMR/EHR, DICOM, or RIS.
  • Application support
