Our client is a management services organization that supports a wide range of specialized healthcare services. With partnerships spanning over eighty skilled professionals across thirty practice locations and one ambulatory surgery center, we coordinate and manage operations to optimize service delivery. They are looking for an Ophthalmic Technician who will play a crucial role in supporting the ophthalmologists by performing diagnostic tests, gathering medical histories, and assisting during eye exams and minor procedures. This is an onsite position based in Fairfield County, CT.
Ophthalmic Technician’s Responsibilities and Duties
- Conduct preliminary patient assessments, including taking patient history, visual acuity, and refraction tests.
- Perform diagnostic tests, such as visual field testing, retinal imaging, OCT, tonometry, and other relevant ophthalmic tests.
- Assist the ophthalmologist during eye exams and minor procedures.
- Educate patients about eye health, medication, and post-procedure care.
- Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
Ophthalmic Technician’s Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required. An associate’s degree in a relevant field is a plus.
- COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) or COT (Certified Ophthalmic Technician) is preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or in a related eye care role.
- Familiarity with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and EHR systems.
- Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and staff.
