Senior Instructional Designer

6 Month Contract to Hire


The Senior Instructional Designer will be responsible for designing and developing instructional materials and courses to support technical project implementations. This role involves creating new training documents and modules, as well as modifying existing vendor-provided materials to ensure effective learning outcomes. The Senior Instructional Designer will serve as the primary liaison between the change management team, external project management teams, subject matter experts (SMEs), and other key stakeholders.


The main system implementation projects include the transition from the organization’s current ERP SAP system to S/4 HANA, the implementation of a new Human Capital Management (HCM) system, and other technology-related projects requiring technical training development.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess specific training needs related to technical and technology projects.
  • Partner with the change management and project teams to design a comprehensive curriculum, considering role-based course requirements.
  • Draft course outlines, including learning objectives and goals tailored to end-user roles and tasks.
  • Develop a variety of training materials, such as facilitator guides, presentations, exercises, scenarios, participant guides, quick reference guides, one-point lessons, and job aids.
  • Create and revise training documents and modules, ensuring they meet the desired learning outcomes.
  • Work closely with SMEs to gain an in-depth understanding of content from the end-user’s perspective.
  • Conduct Train-the-Trainer sessions and support trainers to ensure they are well-prepared to deliver the material effectively.
  • Facilitate training sessions, webinars, and workshops as needed.
  • Develop eLearning courseware when applicable.
  • Utilize task recorders and other authoring tools to create instructional materials.
  • Coordinate with translators to ensure accurate translation of training materials, if necessary.
  • Collaborate with SMEs, business process owners, and vendor partners to ensure training materials align with adult learning principles.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing new hire and sustainability training plans for new users and refresher training for existing users.
  • Publish and distribute training materials and content through the organization’s learning management systems.


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in adult education, learning science, instructional design, educational technology, technical writing, training development, or a related discipline (e.g., information technology) is preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant instructional design experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role
  • Experience with online learning, learning design for mobile, designing and storyboarding for a wide variety of formats and audiences
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, etc.) and Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)


Preferred

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Learning Management Systems (LMS) and/or online learning system experience
  • Certification such as CTT+ (Certified Technical Trainer)
