Cardiac Sonographer

Position Summary:
This position uses equipment to create images using high frequency sound waves into specific areas of the patient’s body to obtain cardiovascular diagnostic information with an emphasis on structural heart. This is a professional position with no supervisory responsibility. Incumbents under this title perform similar but not identical duties.
Illustrative Examples of Work:
- Localizes and recognizes differences between healthy and pathological areas to evaluate for factors such as position, obstruction or change in shape.
- Judges if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
- Must be able to use independent judgment in performing ultrasound examinations.
- Records, files and edits results of sonograms.
- Maintains logs of ultrasound exams.
- Explains the procedure to the patient, records medical history considered necessary, and prepares patients for testing.
- Assists physicians with patient care.
- Attends monthly in-house CME case study conferences.
- Screen all data for accuracy.
- 3-D capture, analysis, and quantification of Aortic and Mitral Valves.
- Offline measurements and quantification of Aortic and Mitral Valves.
- Advanced analysis and quantification of Aortic and Mitral Valves, 2-D &3-D.
- Advanced analysis and quantification of Aortic and Mitral Valves to calculate ERO.
- Extensive calculation of hemodynamic parameters and left ventricular dimensions.
- Required training-conforms to all applicable HIPAA, billing compliance and safety guidelines.
- Performs other and related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalency Diploma
- Two years of college or graduate of Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
- Two plus years of experience in Diagnostic Ultrasound, including clinical rotations.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDCS or RCS) required.
