JOB SUMMARY FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER:


  • Opportunity to work in the rapidly growing electrification field at Caterpillar. Collaborate with cross-functional teams from design, controls, simulation, facility design, and more. Learn and develop motor/generator fundamentals.



RESPONSIBILITIES FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER:


  • Conduct detailed inspections and root cause investigations into motor and generator failures
  • Performing hands-on electrical checks to assess performance and safety.
  • Carrying out visual inspections to identify any physical damages or wear.
  • Reviewing x-ray images to detect internal issues that may not be visible externally.
  • Analyzing materials and fluids to evaluate the condition and quality of components.
  • Collaborate with engineers to learn the intricacies of motor and generator systems, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of failure modes and prevention strategies.
  • Engage in regular mentorship sessions with senior engineers to enhance inspection techniques and improve overall analytical skills.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, analyses, and findings to facilitate continuous improvement efforts and support data-driven decision-making.



REQUIRED EXPERIENCE FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER:


  • 2+ years of experience in engineering or related fields, particularly in electrical systems or machinery.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Agricultural Engineering.



SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER:


  • Electrical testing experience, including knowledge of testing equipment and methodologies.
  • Product development experience, with an understanding of the full product lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in failure analysis techniques to identify root causes and recommend improvements.
  • Familiarity with motor and generator technologies and their applications in electrification.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to electrical equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Attention to detail in documentation, excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset,
  • Capable of articulating complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
