Logistics Manager

Job Description: 

We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Logistics Manager with expertise in Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance to join our team. The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of our logistical operations, ensuring the efficient and timely transportation of goods while adhering to DOT regulations. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and effective team management. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Manage and coordinate all logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution activities. 
• Develop and implement logistical plans and procedures to maximize efficiency and minimize costs. 
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and other relevant laws governing transportation and logistics operations. 
• Maintain accurate records of all transportation activities, including driver logs, vehicle inspections, and maintenance records. 
• Oversee the hiring, training, and performance evaluation of logistics staff, including drivers and warehouse personnel. 
• Monitor and analyze transportation costs and performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions. 
• Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and other external partners to ensure timely delivery of goods and materials. 
• Implement safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all logistics personnel. 
• Stay informed about changes in DOT regulations and industry best practices, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement. 
• Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement and inventory management, to optimize supply chain operations. 
• Ensure proper loading and weight distribution on trucks 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field. 
• Proven experience in logistics management, with a strong understanding of DOT regulations and compliance requirements. 
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage a diverse team. 
• Proficiency in logistics software and systems, such as transportation management systems (TMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS). 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on optimizing processes and reducing costs. 
• Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively. 
• Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures related to transportation and logistics operations. 
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. 
• Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) or similar certification preferred. 
• Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role is required.
