AUTOMATION ENGINEER

Omron Automation-Americas seeks an energetic and focused Automation Engineer in the Dallas, TX office to support sensing, component, and automation solutions and applications in the Americas. This role is a solution expert and functions as a technical liaison to global factory and Automation Center teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Use industry and product experience to help generate revenue growth through applying Omron sensing, component, and automation products to customer applications, demo creation, documenting results, and publishing technical guides
  • Be an individual expert on Omron sensing, component, and automation products in order to support internal and external engineering resources
  • Manage technical relationships with the Product team and Omron Global Automation Center team, coordinating launches and international challenges
  • Develop sample code, application notes, and quick start guides for Sensor and component solutions and applications
  • Responsible for new demo development for the Automation Center showroom and trade shows to highlight real-world application advantages
  • Responsible for demo kits useable by Field Sales Teams
  • Conduct training in applying Omron’s sensing, components, and automation products for internal technical teams, as well as strategic partners/customers when necessary
  • Help Field Sales Teams to convince customers of Omron’s application-level advantages and support them on-site when necessary
  • Advocate Omron marketing messages and reinforce workflow processes between technical teams
  • Engage directly with customers to capture market requirements and investigate with Marketing and Development departments to create those required functions or solutions
  • Be responsive and actively engaged with internal & external teams
  • Represent Omron in a professional, ethical, and socially responsible manner
  • Represents the Omron Guiding Principles through personal and business interactions with employees, distributors, and colleagues


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from a four-year college.
  • 5+ years of experience working with sensors, industrial panel components, and automation applications. OEM engineering experience is a plus.
  • Industrial component experience includes architecture, design, plan, sizing, development, simulation, programming, setup, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and validation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to formulate creative solutions
  • Strong hands-on experience working with sensors, relays, switches, I/O, and automation instrumentations
  • Experience in different industries such as automotive, packaging, semiconductor, manufacturing, and machine tool
  • Field experience evaluating applications and recommending appropriate sensor, component, and automation solutions for diverse applications, including complex, advanced, and high-performance automation applications.
  • Experience with temperature controllers, including PID control, industrial networks, and IIoT
  • Experience with industrial panel building.
