Job Summary
As a member of the Systems Architecture Team, the Cloud Architect is responsible for designing, implementing and managing scalable cloud infrastructure. The goal is to ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability to meet organizational objectives.
Minimum Job Qualifications
- Licensure or other certifications: At least 2 active certifications are required in one of the public cloud provider technologies: Azure or AWS. Proficiency with at least one infrastructure-as-code technology (e.g., Terraform, Azure ARM Templates) and one programming language (e.g., Java, .NET, Python).
- Educational Requirements: Associates Degree. In lieu of degree requirement, 10 years of IT experience may be considered.
- Minimum Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience designing and engineering with implementation on Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure.
Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency with at least one infrastructure-as-code technology (e.g., Terraform, Azure ARM Templates) and one programming language (e.g., Java, .NET, Python).
- Familiarity with large Azure/AWS environments, spanning multiple accounts/subscriptions, availability zones, and regions.
- Strong knowledge of Azure AD (EntraID), Azure Monitor, Azure Security Center, Azure Policy, and Azure Automation.
- Proven track record of handling customer relationships and excelling in high-stress situations.
- Experience architecting highly available, scalable, and reliable solutions on Azure or AWS cloud infrastructure, including serverless designs using managed cloud services.
- Scripting proficiency (Python, PowerShell, or bash).
- Integration experience with third-party software, SaaS services, and/or on-premises applications.
- Advanced knowledge of at least one scripting language such as PowerShell
- Multi-cloud integration experience (Azure, AWS).
- SaaS integration experience (e.g., Workday)
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Lead peers and team members on cloud design patterns, mentoring them on the advantages and risks of proposed approaches.
- Design, engineer, and deliver advanced hybrid cloud platform and infrastructure features regularly.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality cloud solutions, emphasizing security and instrumentation while optimizing for running EPIC and all other cloud workloads.
- Contribute to and promote standards and good practices for design, engineering changes, cost optimization, and configuration management across clouds.
- Continuously improve the cloud platform by staying updated on the latest cloud technologies and industry trends. Collaborate with team members, external vendors, and internal teams.
- Increase efficiency and effectiveness of hybrid cloud operations, promptly addressing cloud-based infrastructure support issues.
- Assist with creating and maintaining documentation: Logical/physical diagrams, run books, discovery documents, QA documents, Capacity and resource planning documents, and build documents.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to System Administrator I and other junior team members.
- Participates in Triage and after hours On Call Rotation
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
