YOUR ROLE


CEVA Logistics is currently recruiting a Director – Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (“QHSE”) for our North American region.


Leads a team of Quality, HSE, Sustainability and Dangerous Goods experts across the region to develop and implement comprehensive standards and strategies, and to build technical competencies that deliver a safe and healthy workplace across North America.


Specific areas of support include industrial hygiene, process safety management, occupational safety, ergonomics, quality (ISO) programs, sustainability initiatives and procedures for the safe transport of freight. Works with business and operational leaders and key internal partners to align, deploy, and sustain value-added preventive measures. Interfaces with workplace safety/health regulatory agencies, professional associations, as well as external experts in the QHSE field.


WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?


  • Develop and implement North America-specific technical plans (strategy and tactics) to assure QHSE compliance with health & safety regulations and CEVA global standards, to eliminate or control health & safety risks in the workplace, prevent employee injuries and illnesses and environmental contamination while facilitating the conservation of limited natural resources.
  • Collaborates with QHSE colleagues and peers, troubleshooting, adapting, and deploying safety strategies/tactics to the breadth of businesses throughout North America.
  • Leverages senior level expertise across the enterprise to provide cost-effective technical guidance and strengthen technical competency.
  • Stewards the CEVA process for setting region strategy, policy, standards, and goals in the areas of industrial hygiene, process safety management, occupational safety, ergonomics, quality (ISO) programs, sustainability initiatives and procedures for the safe transport of freight.
  • Engages externally to benchmark and assure that CEVA stays at the forefront of innovative health and safety solutions as well as to advance CEVA thought leadership and impact through collaborative partnerships in the workplace health and safety space.
  • Supports health and safety focus audits as part of QHSE governance process.
  • Leadership of Regional Safety Managers domiciled within respective regions in a remote-operating capacity. Oversight of departmental expenses and budget.
  • Responsible for identifying, analyzing, and improving existing general business processes to meet goals.
  • Identifies, plans, and implements organizational process improvements to reduce costs, defects/errors, rework, etc.
  • Introduces new methods and processes to improve product/service quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Plans, implements, and maintains the organization's sustainability programs to reduce the use of nonrenewable resources and minimize the environmental impact of operations.
  • Communicates the organization's sustainability vision and program information.
  • Monitors and facilitates progress of sustainability programs consistent with strategies, goals, measurements and reporting standards.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent level of degree is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of workplace Health, Safety and Environmental leadership experience is required.
  • Experience leading and/or working with global safety teams preferred.


Skills

  • Intermediate mathematical skills are required, as well as the functional use of spreadsheets to develop trends and track reactions to safety programs.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and cross-cultural skills is required.


Characteristics

  • Outstanding leadership: ability to gain trust and influence at all levels; collaborative. Strong communicator who is credible and self-assured with the ability to communicate well with Sr. Leadership is required.
  • Ability to create a sense of urgency around preventing injuries, illness and environmental contamination while conserving natural resources is required.
  • Good understanding of global workplace health and safety regulations and issues is required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% is required.
  • Additional course work in management type courses and problem-solving techniques preferred.
  • Participation in local/ community and industry specific Safety related organizations and programs.
  • Certified Safety Professional certification preferred.
