Bottom Line. We are not a VC backed company at this time. This is a scrappy startup looking to disrupt an industry but we are not going to dilute the companies ownership with outside money until absolutely necessary. What does that mean for you? Means the pay is going to be less than you need to live on for awhile. Qualified applicants would understand this a startup, the upside is projected to be amazing, but understand starting out at this level we can't afford a traditional attorney until the business model plays out.


Responsibilities

  • Strategic partner: Researching all applicable laws and findings, you will develop appropriate legal strategies for all stages of the insurance company, litigation and share them with claims representatives and insured clients.
  • People person: You’ll establish and maintain good relationships with the executive team, software developers, claims reps and clients, and may conduct training sessions for Legal, Claims or other departments.
  • Effective communicator: You’ll develop and render clear, unambiguous legal opinions and strategies, and draft legal documents, pleadings, motions and opinions.


Qualifications

  • Membership in the California Bar
  • Successful experience at a law firm specializing in insurance legal cases, operations, or corporate defense
  • You are easy to work with and have a "can do" attitude. We will hit road bumps, the response should be "how do we keep moving forward?".


Knowledge

  • Broad knowledge of insurance law and/or corporate law
  • Understanding of Department of Transportation Requirements, Law, Codes and Regulations


Education

  • Law Degree
  • JD Degree is a bonus
