Nature of Work
Under limited supervision, at the expert level, this position performs technical work in a team environment using complex scientific principles in researching technical issues relative to physical, geological, chemical and biological parameters which may include, but are not limited to, the following environmental areas: air quality, land restoration, mining and reclamation, mitigation, water quality, environmental health and waste management.
Responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:
- Gathering information and data from all the divisions within Office of Environmental Health Services (OEHS) to have the information to work directly with each OEHS division for data entry into the any of the OEHS databases.
- Developing internal program policies and procedures and establish strategic standards, goals and objectives for incorporation in the OEHS databases.
- Assisting OEHS staff with formatting reports to meet necessary data to meet state and federal requirements for Grant reporting.
- Assisting OEHS staff for formatting data reports to inform leadership or others related to high priority projects and implementation of state and federal initiatives.
- Formatting reports that are used for routine purposes and set these reports on agreed upon schedule.
- Training all new and existing OEHS staff on OEHS database systems.
- Assisting OEHS staff with issues resolution related to database entry.
- Providing backup assistance to the PHS Division for the EH Cloud local health department database.
- Assisting and serving as a technical expert and as a resource with the OEHS database reporting for Public Health Emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications
Training: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
OR
Substitution: Additional experience as described below may substitute for the required training at a rate of one (1) year of experience for every fifteen (15) semester hours of graduate training and/or every thirty (30) semester hours of undergraduate training.
AND
Experience: Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in the specialty area.
