Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Construction Superintendent to oversee and manage field operations for mechanical systems on our construction projects. The Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring that all mechanical work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical construction, excellent leadership abilities, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- On-Site Management: Oversee all on-site mechanical construction activities, ensuring projects are executed according to plans, specifications, safety standards, and company policies. Coordinate daily operations, including scheduling, workforce planning, and resource allocation.
- Supervision and Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of foremen, field staff, and subcontractors. Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork, safety, and quality craftsmanship.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets. Ensure seamless communication between the field and office to align with project objectives.
- Quality Control: Monitor work quality to ensure it meets project specifications, standards, and client expectations. Conduct regular site inspections and implement corrective actions to address any deficiencies.
- Safety Management: Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on all job sites. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and job-specific safety plans. Conduct regular safety meetings, audits, and inspections.
- Subcontractor Coordination: Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure work is performed as planned and meets quality standards. Review subcontractor performance and provide guidance as needed.
- Problem Solving and Decision Making: Identify and resolve issues that arise during construction, including scheduling conflicts, manpower challenges, material shortages, and technical problems. Make informed decisions to keep projects on track.
- Scheduling and Productivity: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring all milestones are met. Monitor productivity levels and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, safety records, and change orders. Provide regular updates to senior management on project status and field operations.
- Project Closeout: Oversee project closeout activities, including punch list management, final inspections, and turnover to the client. Ensure all project deliverables are completed and submitted on time.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Superintendent in mechanical construction, with a focus on commercial or industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping, fire protection) and construction methods.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam) and MS Office Suite.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
