Purpose of Position/Summary:

  • This position serves as the Indiana Birth Defects and Problems Registry (IBDPR) Epidemiologist for the Genomics and Newborn Screening (GNBS) program within the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Division. The primary purpose of this position is to analyze data, investigate clusters, evaluate programs, and produce reports.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • This position collaborates directly with the GNBS Program Director, the Indiana Birth Defects and Problems Registry (IBDPR) Program Manager, the Office of Public Affairs (OPA), national organizations, local community health leaders and healthcare providers, both within and outside the state of Indiana. This position is responsible for analysis of birth defects and other genetic conditions to monitor incidence, prevalence, trends, clusters, and disparities. The IBDPR will implement public health initiatives based on the data. Other responsibilities and regular tasks include, but are not limited to, the following activities.
  • Analyze data and report conclusions.
  • Give presentations to team and stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple projects at once.
  • Develop studies to gain more information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Applicant should have a master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics or another related field.

Experience:

  • Applicant is required to have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience with data analysis, and experience with database systems is preferred.
