Building Automation Systems Engineer


The Building Automation Systems Engineer will provide input and assistance on data center construction and upgrade projects. Assuring that projects are properly documented for maintenance and troubleshooting purposes.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

  • Program and fully understand all front-end computer and field DDC controller programming languages.
  • Write custom code to control all mechanical systems safely and correctly. Design energy efficient logical programs. Develop graphics for human-machine interface and operator use.
  • Direct and define the most effective use of energy conservation programs.
  • Provide input and assistance on data center construction and upgrade projects. Maintain a plan library as related to the BAS. On new construction, provide Subject Matter Expert(SME) level experience to the design team for review of drawings and SOO’s.
  • Review existing BAS architecture and network components. Provide recommendations for reliability and performance improvements. As SME provide input to network engineering staff to ensure that BAS systems are reliable, stable, and operating properly.
  • Stay current on electrical, fire and mechanical codes, rules, regulations and ASHRAE standards.
  • Maintain a thorough and detailed knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems with the data centers.
  • Be available for 24-hour emergency service on a rotational basis.
  • Design review, construction support, commissioning activities.

  • Ability to learn, comprehend and apply company procedures and policies
  • Ability to coach, instruct and mentor company employees on equipment operation, company policies and procedures
  • Ability to positively manage expectations and performance of company employees and contracted vendors
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.


Required Qualifications

Essential knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • A minimum of 30 hours a week will be devoted to work directly related to the Douglasville, GA Data Centers, with your physical presence required at the Douglasville site.
  • Engineering equivalent knowledge of building automation, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • proficient in interpreting operating manuals and component drawings as well as developing procedures for the proper operation of the equipment.
  • Ability to use testing equipment such as multi-meters and circuit tracers
  • Ability to organize maintenance schedules, coordinate vendor activities, and develop problem resolutions.
  • Strong familiarity with both Change Management and Incident Management processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Required experience, education and/or licenses/certifications:

  • 6 years of relevant technical experience with Building Automation Systems.
  • Proficient with BACnet, Modbus, SMNP protocols.
  • Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook.
