Geoscientist

NAVFAC EXWC is looking for a highly motivated Geoscientist to join their Geothermal Program Office. This position is located in Ridgecrest, CA at Naval Air Weapons Station, China Lake.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct field work to test and analyze geoscience data to create conceptual models of geothermal systems, solutions for geothermal development, and further understanding of the geothermal systems being studied
• Prepare interdisciplinary proposals and demonstrate innovative technologies to provide innovative solutions
• Apply latest developments to solve problems that are outside present practices and methods
• Make recommendations and decisions that will smoothly move technologies and exploration data from research and development to implementation at Navy sites
• Prepare statements of works and cost estimates for contracts
• Evaluate contractor's proposals and qualifications
• Conduct negotiations, monitor progress of contract work, and review and comment on the contractor's results

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in a Physical Science or ABET-certified Engineering discipline
• At least one year of related experience in an associate/mid-level position

Preferred Qualifications:

• Thorough knowledge of interdisciplinary geosciences (geology, geologic engineering, reservoir engineering, hydrogeology, geophysics and/or geochemistry), with knowledge of the physical sciences being the paramount knowledge requirement
• Degree in Geoscience, Geophysics, Geology, or Geochemistry preferred

• US Citizen aged 18 or older at time of hire
• Males registered or exempt from Selective Service www.sss.gov
• Determined suitable for federal employment (process includes a background check and fingerprinting)
