MEDVACON is assisting our client to hire a Mechanical Engineer consultant for a cardiac device. This will be a long-term consulting assignment, on-site in northern NJ.

This is a true Mechanical Engineer and IS NOT a Quality Engineer.

SUMMARY:

Responsible for the mechanical design, development and sustaining support for new and on-market products. Work independently on engineering solutions to problems of moderate to high complexity requiring ingenuity and creativity. Incorporate decisions that reflect technical as well as business priorities. Contribute to the development of engineering technical capabilities and the development of junior-level engineers.

Minimum Requirements

  • BSME or MSME and a minimum of 6 years of related experience in design/product development of electro-mechanical assemblies including technical oversight of sub-projects
  • Formal training in basic and advanced topics in Solid Works is strongly preferred
  • Experience that includes the design of electromechanical assemblies including structures, covers, electronics integration and commercial components and assemblies including solenoid valves, valve manifolds, compressors, seals, connectors and custom parts for molding, casting, machining and other forming processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, MS Office applications, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks, MCAD/CAE software and database management software preferred
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project preferred

Quality Requirements

  • Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.
  • Ensure compliance to all FDA and Worldwide Quality & Compliance regulations (As applicable to the job function).
  • Must have the education and experience to understand and comply with U.S. and Worldwide medical device regulations (As applicable to your job function).
  • Attend all required Quality & Compliance training at the specified interval.
  • Adopt the “Beyond Compliance Quality Culture” in the work environment; always meet and exceed requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with dimensioning and tolerance, thermal and structural analysis, and vibration testing/analysis
  • Intermediate knowledge of FDA, IEC and UL standards relating to medical electronic equipment
  • Strong technical and analytical ability, verbal and written communication skills, ingenuity and creativity, interpersonal and project management skills
  • Ability to operate measurement & test equipment such as calipers, indicators, pressure and flow measurement equipment, temperature/humidity chambers, PC-based data recorders, DVM’s and oscilloscopes.
  • Familiarity and/or ability to operate basic shop equipment such as a drill press, lathe, milling machine, lathe, brake and shear.

This requires a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer who understands the mechanics of cardiac devices including orientingpieces, transportable and mountable functions. Experience with an intra-aortic balloon pump isdesirable.
