Position Summary
Provides daily administration, promotion, and evaluation of Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center’s (CCOC) benefit programs for active, terminated, and retired physicians/employees.
Essential Job Functions/Accountabilities
Works with the Benefits Manager to ensure compliance with all laws affecting benefits, hospital policies, and provisions of Benefit Plan Documents/Certificates. Provides support by formulating, implementing, interpreting, and communicating benefit policies and procedures across the organization and with vendors/brokers.
Responsible for all aspects of two Workers’ Compensation Policies. This includes reviewing the Employee First Report of Injury, analyzing and monitoring claims as they are administered by the Third Party Administrator (TPA), attending mediation/hearings on behalf of Crystal Clinic, and working with Counsel.
Oversees employee injury reporting, ensures injuries are investigated and assists leadership in implementing changes to ensure safety. Serves as a member of the Emergency Management (Safety) Committee.
Administers absence and disability management, ensuring compliance with FMLA and Crystal Clinic’s Leave of Absence Policies. Effectively communicates with employees and keeps leadership updated on the status of leaves. Ensures HRIS is updated appropriately and invoices employees for missed benefit premiums. Oversees the Transitional Work Program (TWP) and coordinates a return to work with restrictions.
Recognizes when ADA Accommodations may be necessary and manages the process thru determination.
Determines eligibility for and processes all midyear benefit changes due to a qualifying event, employment status change and/or Medical Support Order.
Maintains employee records and dependent eligibility within HRIS and with vendors. Maintains, reconciles and answers questions regarding all benefit, 401(k) and wellness plans/programs. Assists with Open Enrollment and monthly vendor invoicing as needed and directed.
Must maintain confidentiality of patient, physician/employee, and financial information.
Strong working knowledge of business mathematic processes. Ability to manage time effectively, set priorities, and meet deadlines. Ability to prepare written communication, create ad hoc reports, enrollment censuses, and able to combine/compare multiple spreadsheets in Excel. Must be accountable, detail oriented, analytical, and an independent thinker with excellent problem solving skills;
Keeps the Benefits Manager informed of key issues.
All other duties not specifically assigned.
Position Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or GED. Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resource Administration, Accounting or a closely related field of study preferred.
Experience: Three to Five (3-5) years of experience in benefit administration highly preferred. Prior Workers Compensation experience is preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft systems including Outlook, Power Point, and Word with advanced experience in Excel required. Must have experience working with an HRIS. UKG Ready experience is a plus.
