Position: Backend Software Engineer

Location: Columbia, MD, United States

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop robust Java-based software solutions.
  • Demonstrate curiosity, responsiveness, and strong testing abilities.
  • Troubleshoot effectively and thrive in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments.
  • Contribute actively within our fast-paced, small business environment alongside our skilled team.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Security Clearance: Active Secret-level U.S. Government Security Clearance and U.S. Citizenship are required.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in Software Engineering, with expertise in Modern Java Frameworks and Libraries (e.g., Spring, Guava). Bachelor's in related field; or 3 years relevant experience with Master's; or High School Diploma or equivalent with 9 years relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in designing enterprise APIs and RESTful web services.
  • Familiarity with Microservices architecture and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) paradigms.
  • Experience with agile software lifecycle and Linux operating system.
  • Proficient with configuration management tools (e.g., Git, Nexus, Maven).
  • Comfortable with hybrid work schedules.


Desired Skills (Optional):

  • Familiarity with cloud-based technologies (AWS, Azure).
  • Experience with distributed databases, NoSQL databases, and full-text search engines (e.g., Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Solr).
  • Scripting experience is advantageous.
  • Prior exposure to or knowledge of Big Data Platforms is a plus.
  • Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and proficiency with standard software development tool suites (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github Enterprise, etc.).
