Currently Scout HR has a great opportunity for Polymer Scientist in Austin , TX. We are seeking individuals with at least 3 years of industrial experience in R&D directly related to hands-on 3D printing material research and development, innovation and product development to join our innovative aerospace client's team ASAP
Summary:
As a Polymer Scientist, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and reporting outcomes from experiments that combine research, impact and 3D printing. The ideal candidate is a positive, creative, self-motivated team player who can work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
What you will be doing:
- Designs, plans, and presents on new products, prototypes, and processes in 3D polymers for FGF and FDM applications
- Drives scientific excellence and leads by example by demonstrating best practices in research, development, implementation, and execution of new material synthesis, formulation, and process improvement
- Engages in strategic process for projects; serves as SME in 3D polymers with a strong understanding of the additive manufacturing market
- Collaborates with production on scale-up and transfer of new products to manufacturing
- Utilizes design of experiments and statistical tools to assist in identification and resolution of root causes of variations in processes; recommends effective solutions to resolve any identified issues on sustaining products
- Partners closely with product managers to generate specifications and set project scope
- Communicates with cross-functional teams across the company to drive product research and development
- Manages projects in an effective manner; ensures cross-functional technology assessments, products, and other processes are delivered on-time and of high quality
- Provides mentoring and guidance to junior scientists and engineers by sharing scientific and technical knowledge
- Travel up to 2-3 times a year as required.
What we need from you:
- PhD or Masters in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, or another related field
- Minimum three (3) years of industrial experience in R&D directly related to hands-on 3D printing material research and development, innovation, product development, and commercialization of new ideas
- Strong understanding of polymer chemistry/physics and materials science, particularly relating to processing-structure-property relationships and mechanical testing methods
- Familiar with the additive manufacturing market including technologies, materials, leading companies, and trends
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure to produce consistent, high-quality work.
- Is willing to learn and could teach us a few things too.
- Passionate about 3D printing (’cause that’s what they do).
