Senior Commercial Credit Analyst – Job DescriptionOverviewThe Senior Commercial Credit Analyst is responsible for delivering comprehensive credit analysis for both current and prospective commercial relationships. This role works closely with Portfolio Managers and Relationship Managers to support client needs, contributes to business development opportunities, and provides mentorship to Commercial Analyst Trainees and Commercial Credit Analysts.ResponsibilitiesPrepare and present detailed credit memos for existing and prospective clients, including independent judgment and tailored assessment of financial statements, risk rating management, and loan structuring.Support Portfolio Managers and Relationship Managers with commercial credit responsibilities, client servicing, and business development/networking within the commercial loan portfolio.Identify opportunities for strategic introductions to other business units to strengthen and expand client relationships.Mentor and guide Commercial Credit Analysts by assigning, monitoring, and supporting their day-to-day responsibilities and managing workload distribution.Independently research and analyze third-party reports and market data to evaluate industry trends and economic conditions.Participate in training, coaching, and development of Commercial Analyst Trainees and Commercial Credit Analysts.Provide guidance to internal teams, including Loan Operations, Collateral Management, and Treasury Management, by identifying issues and recommending improvements to ongoing processes.Communicate effectively with clients regarding commercial loan requests, providing high-level support and coordinating with internal departments as needed.Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong time management, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.Ensure full compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.Participate in Commercial Department meetings and contribute to both short-term and long-term departmental planning.Model best practices in credit analysis and risk assessment to set a high standard for the team.Complete additional assignments and special projects as designated by management.QualificationsEducation:Bachelor’s degree required; preferred fields include accounting, business, economics, or finance.Experience:Minimum of one year of commercial credit analysis experience required.Successful completion of a formal credit training program is required.Communication Skills:Professional, confident communicator able to tailor messages for various audiences.Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.Strong written communication skills, including clarity, organization, and proper grammar.Maintain professionalism in demeanor, appearance, and conduct.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across internal teams.Ability to exercise sound professional judgment while balancing organizational and client needs.Computer Skills:Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.Ability to learn and adapt to new systems, software, and workflow changes.Travel:Occasional travel may be required to support business needs across different locations.
