Translations Project Management Supervisor
Job Summary:
The Project Management Supervisor leads the Project Management team to ensure operational excellence and high-quality delivery across all language service projects. Reporting directly to the Translations Operations Manager
This role transitions from day-to-day project execution to a leadership focus—overseeing a multi-tier team of Project Managers.
The Supervisor is responsible for team performance, professional development, and maintaining seamless communication between the PM team, clients, and internal departments like DTP and ADA.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Direct Supervision: Oversee the day-to-day workload, attendance, and time-card management for the PM team.
- Performance Tracking: Maintain and monitor PM scorecards, conduct 30/60/90-day and annual performance reviews, and implement PIPs or disciplinary warnings when necessary.
- Mentorship: Act as the primary technical and process resource for PMs, providing instructions and sharing advanced industry knowledge.
- Resource Allocation: Review project assignments and adjust workloads based on individual PM strengths, weaknesses, and current capacity.
Operational Oversight & Quality Control
- Workflow Auditing: Conduct overall project reviews and implement countermeasures to prevent recurring issues.
- Escalation Point: Make critical decisions on time-sensitive, tight-budget, or highly irregular requests.
- Financial Review: Perform final financial checks on completed projects and review any project requests exceeding $10,000 and report to the operations manager about any project requests with more than $1,000 profit loss.
- Capacity Support: Serve as the primary backup Project Manager for all clients to ensure zero service gaps during absences.
Client & Internal Collaboration
- Strategic Communication: Work closely with DTP and ADA Supervisors to ensure multi-departmental projects stay on schedule.
- Key Account Management: Manage advanced or unique clients as assigned, including high-volume accounts.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate kickoff meetings and provide bi-weekly reporting for the department’s largest clients.
Qualifications & Skills
Required Experience
- Industry Expertise: Minimum 5 years of experience in translation project management.
- Leadership: Prior experience in a supervisory or team-lead role within a Language Service Provider (LSP).
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of CAT tools and TMs (e.g., memoQ), Business Management Systems (e.g., XTRF), and collaboration tools (e.g., Trello).
- Industry Standards: Familiarity with ISO management and implementation within a translation context.
Core Competencies
- Advanced Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot portal issues and system integrations independently.
- Negotiation: Proven ability to negotiate rates and deadlines with global linguist vendors.
- Strategic Alignment: Understanding of EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System), V/TO, and Core Values.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office (hybrid) environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
It also requires work-hours after hours and/or weekend and required to be a point-of-contact for any requests that come after hours/weekends/holidays.

Physical Requirements
Occasional Travel
