Role Description
We are seeking a teacher or personal tutor for an adult autistic individual, for 2 hours a week. Their reading and math skills are currently at second-grade level. Our immediate goal is to improve their reading skills sufficiently to pass the written driving test within a year. Our long-term goal is for them to read a novel well enough to enjoy it and discuss it with us. Additionally, their math skills need to be brought up to at least a middle school level.
This is an onsite position, located in the San Francisco Bay Area. The lessons will be conducted at a public library or another neutral and safe location. The position will commence on 02/01/2025. Applications and hiring are currently in progress. The selected candidate will be employed by our company.
Qualifications
- Prior tutoring experience
- Strong knowledge in the subject areas being taught
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience and ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of individual students
- A degree in Education or related field is a plus
- Must be a certified tutor
