Program Manager

Position Overview: Defense Technical Recruiting is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Manager with a background in satellite communication systems with experience at Space Systems Command (SSC). The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership abilities, strategic thinking, and a proven track record of managing complex programs within the aerospace industry. This role offers the opportunity to lead cutting-edge projects and contribute to the advancement of space technology.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of space systems projects within the Space Systems Command framework.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, scientists, and project managers to ensure project objectives are met within specified timelines and budgets.
- Provide strategic direction and guidance to project teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Act as the primary point of contact for SSC stakeholders, maintaining strong relationships and facilitating effective communication.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, proactively addressing challenges to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Manage project resources, including personnel, budget allocation, and equipment procurement, to optimize project efficiency and performance.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes relevant to space systems and SSC operations.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the program management team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Business, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in program management within the aerospace industry, with a focus on space systems.
- Proven experience working with Space Systems Command (SSC) or similar government agencies/organizations.
- Strong understanding of space systems engineering principles, including satellite design, launch vehicle operations, and space mission planning.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface with stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- PMP or other relevant project management certification is a plus.
- US citizenship and ability to obtain a top secret security clearance.
Location: This position is based in El Segundo, CA, with occasional travel to CO, NM, or FL as required.
