Job brief

The Videographer/Video Editor is a full-time position and will work out of our North Charleston, SC offices, and will assist in our existing video team in the video/photography side of multiple projects, including monthly retainer accounts and management of in-house studio. This role will be highly involved in assisting and providing excellence in filming services by bringing sight, sound and editing together to tell a cohesive, creative story for TargetMarket and its clients.  This role would require the possibility of up to 25% travel and a portfolio or reel required with any submission.


Our media services include video production, documentary production, drone video, and editing, as well as photography. This position is also client-facing and is responsible for relationship building while managing expectations and attending client meetings or shoots offsite, and assisting with planning and organizing monthly retainer client video/photography services. 


Responsibilities

  • Assists as part of the production team to create video deliverables
  • Consults with Producer or Video Production Manager in the pre-production to post-production process
  • Assists in maintaining studio space
  • Reviews shooting scripts and/or client’s direction to reach and exceed clients goals and expectations
  • Responsible for using and keeping track of video equipment, audio equipment, lighting gear, microphones, editing systems, and location-specific props when required
  • Collect b-roll footage and interviews when required
  • Edits recorded footage into a finished project that matches the client’s vision and quality standards
  • Inputs music, dialogues, graphics, lower thirds, and effects
  • Creates rough and final cuts
  • Continuously discovers and implements new editing technologies and the industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency 
  • Displays professional knowledge and expertise of film editing best practices
  • Continues to enhance our agency’s production process to create efficiency 
  • Collaborates with all agency team members to create and execute a cohesive vision for all projects
  • Maintains a top level of professionalism to best represent TargetMarket inside and outside of the agency
  • Occasionally works with external contractors  to produce and create audio and video content
  • 25% travel possible
  • Maintains an understanding of current marketing trends/implementations and best practices, proactively working to expand knowledge and skill-set through continuing education, reading, and certifications
  • Takes ownership of daily work and tasks, work proactively and collaboratively to solve problems, communicate status, track time daily, deliver results, meet timelines, and client expectations
  • Has a willingness to roll up your sleeves and help the team when needed. While in office, light clerical duties may be required


Requirements


Due to the nature of our clients’ schedules, we sometimes require early morning arrivals to set up for filming and occasionally Saturday/Sunday/evening work is required. The employee will be given as much advance notice as possible for any adjustments in schedules and regular weekly hours will be shifted to compensate. Some overnight travel is required. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license. 


  • Minimum 4-5 years of professional work experience as a videographer/video editor
  • Competency and knowledge of current video frameworks, platforms, tools, products, etc. 
  • Must be an expert in knowledge and use of Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Media Encoder, and Adobe Audition
  • Experience with Sony or Canon cinematic camera equipment is preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with technical systems (i.e. audio, lighting, video and presentation software, and photography)
  • Understanding of the tools, processes and personnel required to take a project from the first draft of a proposal to a finished solution
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to facilitate meetings, lead presentations and management communications in a responsive, friendly and professional manner
  • Ability to prioritize your work based on client and agency dynamics
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, teams and timelines simultaneously

Education


BS/BA degree in Film Studies, Communications, Media Arts, Cinematography or related field is preferred.
