An esteemed energy trading firm located in Houston, Texas, specializing in trading power and gas across 24/7 markets, with a focus on innovation and excellence, are seeking an experienced Shift Energy Trader to join the team.


As a Shift Energy Trader, you will be responsible for executing trades and managing positions within the power and/or gas markets on a 24/7 basis focusing on intraday and day ahead markets. This role demands a keen understanding of market dynamics, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced trading environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute trades within the power and gas markets to optimize profitability and manage risk.
  • Monitor market trends, news, and events to identify trading opportunities and inform trading strategies.
  • Manage the balancing mechanism and maintain knowledge on relevant interconnectors.
  • Analyze market data and develop trading strategies to capitalize on market inefficiencies.
  • Collaborate with other traders, analysts, and risk management teams to ensure alignment with trading objectives and risk limits.
  • Maintain accurate trading records and reports.
  • Stay informed about regulatory developments and compliance requirements within the energy trading industry.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an energy trader, preferably within power and/or gas markets.
  • Strong understanding of energy markets, including supply and demand dynamics, pricing mechanisms, and trading strategies.
  • Proficiency in analytical tools and trading platforms.
  • Excellent decision-making skills and ability to perform under pressure.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts on a 24/7 basis.
